Major Requirements
The major requires 38-40 hours as follows: Concentrations, at least 12 hours selected from the following:
Outdoor Leadership and Instruction:
Commercial and Resort Recreation:
Recreation Resource Management Hours: 12
An approved area of study tailored to suit specific land agencies such as the National Park Service, Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, state parks, and Army Corp of Engineers. Electives
General electives, 26-28 hours, are required to complete the program. Admission criteria:
All requirements for admission to Parks and Recreation Management (PRM) must be met by the beginning of the semester following the semester in which the student submitted the application. The following are requirements for admission:
- complete an essay after reviewing current PRM journals on reasons for becoming a PRM major;
- complete a personal strategic plan with an adviser in which the plan should include involvement in professional activities as well as academic expectations;
- earn (and maintain) a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on hours attempted at WCU.
