Program Description

The Post Master’s Certificate is a 24-credit hour program (8 courses over 3 semesters) designed for full-time educators with families and other community responsibilities. We use a cohort model to build a strong network of professionals as we prepare P-12 school leaders throughout NC in alignment with NC Standards for School Executives and National Educational Leadership Preparation Standards. We blend theory and practice throughout the program, providing aspiring leaders with a wide range of experiences to prepare them for the realities of school leadership.

We are a Distance Learning Program. All classes are taught online in synchronous and asynchronous format. However, we invite students to attend special presentations and leadership training at WCU’s Instructional Site in Asheville, NC. Our in-person learning and relationships then transfer into our online learning environment, allowing students to grow and support one another within their cohort.

Within the 24-hour program, students complete a two semester, six credit hour, school-based internship while remaining in their current role of employment. Successful completion of the PMC leads to recommendation for NC Principal Licensure.
