Program Description
The program leading to the M.S. degree in clinical mental health counseling requires a minimum of 60 semester hours of graduate study.
Program Admission Requirements
In addition to the admissions criteria established by the Graduate School, the program also requires the following:
Test Scores or GPA and/or previous degree
Applicants must have at least one of the following:
- Bachelor's degree overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Master's degree
- GRE scores of at least 150 on Verbal or Quantitative and 4.0 on Analytical Writing
Essay or Narrative Statement
Applicants must submit a personal goal statement.
Letters of Recommendation
Three recommendations from academic and/or employment sources are required.
Resume and/or Experience
Applicants must submit an education and work history resume.
Program Requirements
Any student receiving a final grade of “C” in two courses will be dismissed from the Counseling program. This standard supersedes the WCU Graduate School standard.
Any student receiving a final grade of “C” in COUN 605: The Helping Relationship must re-take that course to earn a minimum final grade of “B.”
