EDL 813 - Leading Adult Learners in Higher Education


This course engages doctoral students in discussions about teaching and leading adult learners in college and university settings. It is designed to introduce students to fundamental research-based principles of learning and teaching adults, with a special emphasis on applications in higher education. The focus of the course is on developing awareness of teaching, learning, and assessment practices that facilitate meaningful learning, while also developing basic skills in designing and delivering instruction that takes advantage of relevant instructional technologies. Teaching and the related topics of curriculum development, learning styles, pedagogical techniques, motivation, and student assessment are explored
