COMM 326 - Global/Cultural Health Communication


 

This course explores health care consumers and delivery systems within the context of diverse cultural heritages and socio-cultural backgrounds. Key topics include perceptions of health and illness among both health care providers and consumers, cultural and institutional factors influencing access to health care, and heritage consistency’s impact on health beliefs and practices. We will examine specific health beliefs and practices of selected populations and address critical issues in safe and effective health care delivery, such as poverty, immigration, and the right to health care.
