EOE 622 - Social Theory in EOE

This course will be taught in seminar format;  we will read  theorists’ work and then grapple with their ideas together through intellectual, critical discussion. We will think through ideas of theorists such as Marx, Butler, Foucault, Weber, Bourdieu, Geertz, Marcuse, and Adorno among others. Each week, we will ask the question, how can this theorist’s ideas help us make sense of current EOE trends/issues?

Prerequisites: Admission to the graduate program in Experiential and Outdoor Education or permission of instructor.
Credits: 3
