EDM 358 - Vulnerable Populations and Emergency and Disaster Management


This course is designed to critically examine the relationship between social inequality and disaster vulnerability. Special emphasis will be placed on social theories of disaster vulnerability, research examining the experiences of socially marginalized populations during disasters, and strategies for reducing disaster-vulnerable populations which include increased incidences of domestic violence, neglect, fraud, and other crimes.

Prerequisites: EDM 250  or permission of instructor.
