GEOG 140 - Introduction to Geography


The discipline of Geography combines the physical and social sciences to gain an understanding of the world around us.  This introductory course is designed to give the beginning student exposure to major geographic topics including the Earth’s physical systems as well as its human systems and the connections between the two.  Students will examine relevant world examples to understand spatial patterns associated with major physical features, climate, natural hazards, culture, globalization, and politics.  This interdisciplinary course can benefit students in any major and future career (Liberal Studies P6).
