EDRD 420 - Methods of Effective Reading Instruction


Research, theory, and instructional practices for teaching reading in grades K-6. The course focuses primarily on using evidence-based instructional practices for teaching all learners language comprehension, with a focus on background knowledge, vocabulary, language structures, verbal reasoning, and literacy knowledge. The objectives of this course are designed based on current research on reading development and instruction and are aligned to the science(s) of reading. Coursework and objectives will be revised, as needed, based on new research. This course includes an extensive field component.

Prerequisites (EDRD 303  or EDRD 320 ) and (EDEL 311  or SPED 312 ).
